Photoshop and Nikon users alert!!
D-Town TV and PhotoshopUser TV episodes are officially ended. The good news is that a new program will be taking their place sometime late in September. New set, new format but same great info from those guys. You can still catch the back episodes on their web sites. I am looking forward to the new show!

Hi All...
It has been a busy end of the summer for me...two weddings (two nephews) within a month, TWO lens rentals (two different rental sites), two people starting new jobs (husband and son) after being unemployed for 3 months, two illnesses (mono AND strep for one son...thankfully not me :-) and two classes at JSprague.com (I am lurking and not participating...no time..). I purchased Lightroom 2 and am learning to process photos through it using Matt Kloskowski training videos at Kelbytraining.com. I have learned a lot and have a loooong way to go. It is great being able to use the wedding photos shot indoors with no flash as a training exercise and I surprised myself and others at how well they turned out even though I basically didn't know what I was doing :-) I still don't....it is so overwhelming but I had a great time doing it! I also created a photo storage site on Phanfare.com and i can post a link to the wedding albums if anyone is interested. Jo-Anne: I have some observations about noise on the D90 that I will post in your discussion when I get a little time. Stephanie: I will post the details of the lens rentals in that discussion soon.
I am looking forward to Fall!

Welcome Karen! My husband had the birthday and I got the camera :-) Make sure you check out D-Town tv for all kinds of Nikon tips from Scott Kelby and Matt Kloskowski. It has been a big help to me. One tip on viewing...you can click a little icon to make the videos play full screen. Both of those guys wear dark colors and it can be hard to see the black camera gear. Full screen makes it a lot easier. The Oh, Shoot! class is wonderful...you will be amazed at what you can do with a little instruction from Candice. Have fun!

Hi, I am so happy to see this group! I love this about Jessica's site, I spend way too much time here! I'm in the O Shoot class & Jessica's Brush class now as I type. Now I just got my D90 last week, I have a DHubby, he got a motorcycle, I got my camera, fun! I did a lot of reading before I took the big leap, this is my first DSLR & have a lot to learn but I'm so happy this group is here, already reaped some great information! Thanks

Hey there! Hope you don't mind me joining y'all-I've had my D70s for almost 4 years now and I'm really hoping that dh will get me the D90 for Christmas-I caught him doing some research on it the other day so keep your fingers crossed for me!

To answer the question, I had a D100 before before DH gave me the D700. I need to be more careful about the "I want" comments. He's big into researching and buying expensive toys.

Kristi - on the Canon, I've also got a S31S I love for those times I don't want to haul the Nikon. They're awesome cameras. I need to figure how to use its controls.

This is an awesome group!

...and the "Shoot Out" commercial for Joe McNally's Lighting! What a hoot! So we have an experienced DSLR user here (MG Petersen). You are way farther along than I am. I didn't even realize there was a reason to own a DSLR until a year ago. I had a Canon S3IS and I thought that was really something. And then when I figured out how to use the P (program) button I thought there was no mountain high enough :-) I thought of that camera while taking Candice's Oh Shoot class and wondering what I might have done on manual with that really nice little camera had I known anything about it. It might not have been quite as overwhelming as this monster machine I own now.
So MG: I'll chime in with Stephanie. What did you use before D700? Did you have one of the beginner DSLRs or did you start with that big Kahuna? Is it really that much different shooting with the full frame camera?
Tell us everything before someone starts a D700 group and takes you away :-)

What did you have before you got the D700? I love the DTown site too. I just found out about it through here, and love it. Its very informative. Plus I love Scott Kelby!
