Wow, this is a good discussion. I escaped the computer the past few days... partially intentional and partially by accident. It's interesting to see what everyone has written. My dad had an SLR that I shot slide film with. I took lots of photos with it but didn't have a clue what I was doing and then I remember compact cameras being the greatest thing so I got one of those in the early 90s. I didn't get my DSLR until Sept 2009 (1 year ago) and it was mostly because I was frustrated with the point and shoots I had. I went through 3 of them in a 5 year period of time... it was very frustrating.

So as far as my dreams go... I am not sure. I really enjoy it as a hobby right now and don't really see myself pursuing it as a career or side job or anything but simply my creative play. But I also feel like I am really searching for finding my niche with my camera... which is why I had asked about Digi in Deep... I want to keep learning but what I really want to do is learn photography. I am having a hard time finding something as good as Candice's where it involved a bit of technical (but not over my head) and a lot of creative. I am struggling with lighting and I think it's because I really like capturing the unexpected but somehow I have got it into my head that means every photo needs to be great... which I am learning isn't the truth. I think at some point my dream would be to enter contests and just see my photo in print or on the web but just be recognized as a good photo but that is quite far down the road. I don't need to win, I just need to feel the confidence to submit and at least be in the finalist so I could see it in print or on the web or whatever.
