Hi, I'm HighDesertGal from Albuquerque. I just got a new Canon G11 basically the same as a G10. Don't know much about it,yet. But, I'm willing to learn and to share what I know. I can't find my info manual. My DH took it somewhere so I've downloaded the pdf.
Can't do much photography right now....broken patella. I know from the pictures that I have taken; that I need to know more.

Feel free to email and share...I usually go by HighDesertGal and I'm at nljhart@gmail.com

Thanks for the reply, Leslie! I do absolutely love this cameral already-there are so many different features it will take me a while to get them all set up, but the photos are super and you're right, the camera itself is very fast. I took some macro flower photos last weekend and they turned out really nice.

I dont think you will regret it. the battery life is awesome. not sure what shutter lag is? picture takes as soon as you push the button. that is the reason i use canon! it is small enough to fit in a jacket pocket. a little buckier than the little ones but i have put it in the side pocket of my purse and carried it with no problem. my beach pictures are awesome!i love this camera.

Well, I just pushed the "buy" button at Amazon. I spent the morning reading reviews and just couldn't find anything I liked better. I bought the book and cheat sheets, too, so I should be all set. Now I suppose my lost camera will show up . . .

I forgot to mention that in the meantime-until I either find the lost one or buy a new one-I've been using my very first digital camera-2mp Olympus. I loved that thing at the time but all I can say is Wow, have digital cameras come along way in the last 8 years!

OK, you all have me intrigued. I'm have a DSLR (DRebel XT) and I'm saving up for a newer one. I like to have a point and shoot for times when I don't feel like lugging the big one around-and now I lost mine. I can't find it anywhere. So, I've been looking at reviews for the D10 and I have a few questions for you guys.
1. Is it small and light enough to carry in a jacket pocket?
2. How is the shutter lag?
3. How is the digital noise? How about under higher ISO conditions?
4. How's the battery life?

It's a little more than I really want to spend, but my last p&s (the one I lost) was a cheapy and the noise and picture quality were pretty bad at times. The other camera I'm looking at is the Canon SX 10, it doesn't have RAW and it looks clunkier, though it is $100 cheaper and has more optical zoom. I just want a small sturdy camera that I can take to the beach and be confident that the photos of my grandkids or whatever are going to come out great (aside from user error :-) )
Help me decide . . .
Thanks!
Deb

I have the G9. It's a great little walk around camera with all the capabilities of a DSLR.

I have been eyeing this camera for a while as an extra camera to carry around with me. I would love to see some pictures that are made with it!
