In Episode 5
The inspiration for this project comes from "before" my scrapbooking days. Before I started scrapbooking, I was TERRIBLE at taking photos. I have so few photos of some of my most precious memories. To resolve the situation, I adapted a page I could create with a photo that represents the experience (hey, if you don't have it, fake it!), and then text, a map, and embellishments to tell the rest of the story in all the detail I remember it.
You'll experience a smooth transition from the video class into the Photoshop instruction, and then back to the video class to assemble and complete the project. You'll LOVE how easy it is to learn amazing techniques you can use in dozens of different pages!
What You'll Learn
In the Photoshop screencast (recorded in both Elements and CS4), I'll show you how to:
- Add a faded, grungy edge to a photo
- Desaturate and add texture to a photo
- Download, resize, and print a map as an embellishment
- Add a block of fully justified type
- Add a drop-cap
- Add a curving title
- Print a reusable tracing pattern
In the video class, I'll show you how to:
- Cut apart, assemble, and adhere your project
- Use a printed pattern as a guide for tracing a cut-out
- Run a cut sheet through your printer again to place type in hard-to-print places
- Use fabric scraps, solvent ink, and rub-ons to create a one-of-a-kind embellishment
- Finish off your layout with chipboard and mini brads
