Moving Memories with Jeff and Greg is a series of videography and editing production classes hosted by Jeff Smith and Greg Winters.  Both Jeff and Greg have extensive backgrounds in the television and film industry.  With their knowledge of cameras, lighting, audio, and editing, they will teach you tips on how to improve your home video production skills.  Each course will include video instructions and printable tips.

Videography 102: Shoot to Edit is our second self paced videography class which is designed to prepare you to shoot your videos in a mindset that will allow you to begin editing together your videos in a complete project that tells the full story of what you were doing. The lessons cover what to look for when shooting video; How to get the best reactions from your family or friends on camera; How to tell a story through your videos; and much more. As always, there are PDF's that go into more detail for you to use when you shoot your next project.

Moving Memories will build your skills through beginner, intermediate, and advanced level courses.  The topics will include videography, audio, lighting, and editing.  There will also be courses where Jeff and Greg explain how they as professionals produce video projects.  Plus, throughout the class series there will be assignments for you to practice what you are learning and to begin your journey toward becoming a better videographer and editing your own projects and home videos into professional looking movies that your friends and family will love to watch.

Videography Series of Classes - Coming Soon!

Beginner

  • Videography 102 - Shoot to Edit - shooting an event where you know you will edit the footage later into a concise story of the event.
  • Videography 103 - Explanation from the professional - We will talk you through our mindset during the shooting of a family event to help you better understand what we shot and why and how it will help when it comes time for editing.

Additional beginner lessons will cover types of cameras, basic lighting, basic audio, and composition. Throughout the classes there will be assignments for you to practice what you are learning and to begin your journey toward editing your footage and being a better videographer.



Intermediate

Lessons in the intermediate course will offer more in-depth techniques on composition, zoom and panning purposes, and camera recording formats.  We will add live chat sessions with examples for some of the lessons.  In addition there will be more assignments to capture specific types of events in order to prepare for an intermediate level editing project.


Advanced:

Our advanced level courses will bring your videography skills to the level of a professional videographer.  We will have more projects and discussion sessions that will cover advanced shooting techniques, interview composition, and advanced sound and lighting.


Our Editing Courses will cover:

Basics:
-Our basic level editing classes will introduce you to your computers ability to capture video from your camera, how and where to store it, and then how to get started editing a basic level project and publishing your new video to the web or social media site for your family and friends to see.

Intermediate:
-Our intermediate level courses will introduce you to an advanced level of editing including the use of effects, editing audio and adding sounds and music to your projects, as well as burning your projects to DVD.

Advanced:
-The advanced level courses will teach you all about video editing with graphics, audio finishing, multilayering your video and audio, advanced effects, and will cover professional editing systems.

Making a Family History Video:

The purpose of all of the classes is to train you to produce a professional documentary video that will follow the life story of a loved one.  Once you have a higher level of understanding of videography and editing then we will work to teach you how to shoot, edit, and produce a project of this magnitude.  This will be an intermediate to advanced level course with interview techniques, adding photos to your video timeline, graphics, music and more.
