Hi there, and welcome to Day 3 of our 7 Days in June challenges! Have you seen all the outstanding works of art in our gallery? I loved peeking at your comic stories and your photofun art!
Photos + words + art - these are three things that I am incredibly passionate about (as you can probably tell from my blog and my shop header
). They are for me the perfect media for telling the stories of our lives, of what we hold near and dear to our hearts. And isn't that precisely why we scrap? To tell the stories of our lives?
Today's challenge is inspired by our collective devotion to storytelling and this image I chanced upon while cruising the net:
Simon Kelly says,
"Stories define us. Since early cave dwellers left their graffiti in Lascaux, listening to and telling stories have moved people. Stories are powerful: They give meaning and context to what would otherwise be a collection of easily forgettable facts." When we tell our stories with words and pictures and art that we've crafted with our own hands (and computer mice or pens and tablets
), then the resulting visual feast serves to cement these stories in our memories even more and turns into a wonderful legacy for generations to come. How awesome is that!
I truly believe we are all innately storytellers. And today, that's precisely what we're going to do. We're going to tell a story: a funny one, a moving one, an inspiring one, a just-because one... any story at all! And we're going to use words and a single photo to do it.
So let's get started by spelling out our challenge requirements:
1. Create a layout to tell your story with words—a sentence or a paragraph or an entire novel; the choice is up to you.
2. Your layout must have a photo. Just one. It may be huge or it may be small... but it must be only one. (Limitations such as this are designed to make us push the envelope and discover our ability to summon magic from behind certain boundaries. Isn't that an amazing way to challenge ourselves?).
3. You must use at least one of the rub-ons from the pack that I have created as today's challenge freebie. (If you want to use more than one, go right ahead!)
4. Upload your layout to our challenge gallery, come back to this thread to post that you've completed the challenge... and don't forget to enjoy--and leave love on--all the wonderful challenge layouts that come up in the gallery!
Let's not forget today's challenge freebie, which you'll need to accomplish today's layout. Here's a preview of what I've made for you:

Today we will take one step closer to making sure that we carry no untold stories, and that our life, filled with stories, is a life well lived.
I can't even begin to tell you how excited I am to see what you come up with!
Happy scrappin', my sweeties!
Let's Keep in Touch!
