Hello beautiful art journalers! I hope you will forgive me for being so late this month.. things have been NUTS here at the Janitz household. Ellie is starting high school, she is on the Equestrian team, and I've been driving around like a crazy mom. I honestly do not know how any of you do this with more than one kid! LOL!

Anyway, the prompt I picked for this month's challenge is SILENCE. Why? you ask? Well, because I think that is what I have been craving the most as of late. Silence to meditate or do yoga, turning the TV or radio or computer off and just sitting down with a good book. Gardening with no one else around or just sitting by myself without a deadline is what I really need this month. Or even silencing all my worries that I have right now.

How about you? What does the word SILENCE mean in your life? How can you journal about this?

One art journal technique that I have come to really enjoy is the process of writing down all my worries, all my cares, concerns, everything that's in my head and weighing me down. Then I paint over it and watch the paint drip down... picturing it carrying my troubles to the edge of the journal and washing it away, along with the paint. I know I've brought this technique up before, but maybe consider doing this digitally. It's very empowering (and healing!).

This is a picture of a recent art journal page I did while on the train to Chicago to visit my sister. The page on the left with the watercolor drips is the page where I wrote everything down that was bugging me and painted over it with my watercolor markers. I can't tell you how releasing it was for me to watch my worries get covered over with paint then turning my journal up on it's side and watching the watercolor drip down.

Sounds like a challenge indeed!
Looking forward to seeing your work-around for those of us who cannot access your attachments.

One way to copy Janice's color background is to take a selection screen shot ( Command - Shift - 4 ) of the image. Then upsize the image in 10% increments until it is as large as you need. It's not absolutely great this way, but may be OK for a background that you blend others into.

You can search the Forum for what I posted on this a while back. Search for upsize using Advanced Search.

The problem is not being able to see the graphic, so can't take a screen shot. I can never see any of the pics n Nancie's posts.

Oh! That is a problem! Do you see other images that are posted in the Forum by other people? Is it only images in the Forum posts by Nancie? Do you at least get an area in the post where the image should be? If you get an area showing where the image should be, try putting your cursor over that area and clicking the mouse in that area. That might bring the image up, or not. Or, if there is an area, try right clicking in the area to see of you get the contextual menu and select Save linked file as… Maybe this might work, or not. You might try going into Safari's preferences and uncheck Block pop-up windows. Maybe, maybe not.

I really don't know why this is happening to you. I have no problem with Nancie's images in her posts. But, I am using a Mac with Safari browser.

Have you tried other browsers? Does it happen with other browsers?

I tried that,still doesn't work Nancie! I can see it on my ipad but when I try to email it to myself it still gives me the error message that it's an invalid file.

Noreen - I just emailed you the link. Can you give it a try outside of the forums?

I am not sure exactly what the issue is with the links. I thought it was because of a security issue in the some of the browsers, when coming from my server. So I thought if I set it up on JS.com it would take care of that.

Can you email me what platform and browser you are using - both the platform (mac, pc) and the browser and version?

I got attached messages from Safari and then from Zipeg when I tried to open it that way.
