Help with brushes 10 Years, 7 Months ago
Is there a way to see what a brush looks like instead of guessing which one you need? I really don't want to spend the time to stamp out each brush and print them off, either. Sometimes I'm in a hurry and just want to browse through to find the right one, but just get the sames and have to guess.

Any suggestions?

If you are on a Mac, and I am using PS CS6, then you can see the brushes in an .abr file directly from the Finder. Open the Finder, go to the .abr file you want to see the brushes, click on the .abr file, then press the Space bar. This will open a window showing the brushes. However, if any of the brushes are over 2500 pixels in size, which they can be in PS CS6, then I don't think this will show the brushes.

I'm on a Mac, but I'm using PSE10.

Earl, thanks, I'll try that. I just really tired for sifting through the endless number of brushes looking for just the right one. I tried renaming them, but that didn't help much.

I use ACDsee, and I can preview the brush files there. Much easier!

I think there is a Mac plug in you can get that does the same thing as Earl was demonstrating. I know I used it before. I'll try and find out more info if someone doesn't jump in first.

There is a plug-in. I have Mt. Lion now and it still works. Check out this link and see if it helps.

Thanks. I have ACDSee, but still haven't had much time to mess with it and get everything organized.

ACDsee windows version can preview brushes, but the Mac version does not.

The Quick Look plug in is great. I also have Brush Pilot which allows you to preview all your brushes but not to search for types of brushes.

What I did is make a folder system for types of brushes and put them in the folder the belong. Doesn't matter for Brush Pilot because it shows the brushes no matter where they are.

Hi ladies...
Just wanted to share with everyone that I found Brush Pilot at a wicked deal (more than half off!) at this website!
I bought it for $14 CAD/ $12 US and within minutes had it up and running!

Love to be able to share a deal when I find one! Hope this helps your pocketbooks!
