ACDsee and external editor/No drag and drop 10 Years, 3 Months ago
So here I am on a scrap weekend. I updated to ACDsee 17. Took Jessica's organization class and got all organized and NOW ACDsee won't let met set PSE as the default editor (shows it in the editors but not default no matter how many times I try to make it the default) BUT even worse, it won't let me drag and drop into PSE - just shows me a circle with a line through it. So, do I do nothing all weekend? Do I throw my computer thru a window?

How do I get my organized files to PSE?

Argh - thanks!

I'm on a Mac and taking a complete guess here....but it may have something to do with using PSE 9. It's fairly outdated and ACDSee 17 is new. I wish I had more answers for you but do know that I am completely jealous that you are at a scrapbook weekend

Open PSE and use the 'open' command in the file menu and click to the file that you need instead of dragging them into PSE?
PSE should be able to open any jpg or png no matter how old the software is.

It has turned into a non-creative, total re-organizing and tagging weekend. *SIGH*

Thanks for the help - I am making progress!

Sorry I didn't find this earlier ... I was going to suggest that before you throw your computer through the window (which I would've been tempted to do as well!), that you restart, take a deep breath, and go from step one.

The restart usually helps. I love the drag and drop, but as an earlier poster suggested, perhaps using the "open" button in PSE would be better. That would drive me to upgrade my PSE because I like the convenience of dragging and dropping.

I'm so sorry that your scrapping weekend turned into a reorganizing and tagging one and I hope that the week to come totally trumps it all!!

I am having the same problem. The drop and drag is nice because you can see what you need. The open file in PSE only brings up text and no picture? So much more time consuming. I have ACDSee 17 and PSE 11. I swear this worked 3 months ago just fine and now this problem. Any one have any solutions? My ACDSee file also is saying something about file being "unmounted" what does that mean?

Unmounted usually means it's not hooked up to the computer. For example if you have an external hard drive hooked up to the computer it can be mounted or unmounted and if it's unmounted your computer can't read the data on the drive; therefore when you pull files from ACDSee you just get words because it's referencing a file it can't get to. So is it possible your ACDSee library or actual files are on an unmounted drive?

PC version doesn't support drag and drop, but you can set PSE as your default editor. Once your've done that you can select your items in ACDSee and use ctrl-alt-x and they will open in ACDSee.

tools -> external editors -> configure editors
