Organization question 9 Years, 4 Months ago
Hi, for Christmas Santa brought me a Macbook Pro, am pretty excited. Am in a big learning curve as I have always used windows based PC. Have used and been happy with ACDSee. I understand it does not work well with a MAC. So do I need to change to PIXA or does lightroom or another adobe product do the job. Want to set up my new system well from the get go.
All help much appreciated.

Hi - Congrats on the new computer! I definitely wouldn't try ACDSee on the Mac. It's not well supported.

LR can organize your digital supplies now that it sees PNGs. If you use it for your photos, some people have two catalogs, one for supplies and one for photos. You can also organize in Picasa.

What level of organized are you going for? Macs have lots of internal organizational features that work well for many, without additional software. The Finder feature is great - it works amazingly well. You can also color code folders. I gave up on tagging supplies - I just sort by type (Travel, etc), keeping them in folders by kits and use Finder to pull out stuff.

If Jessica offers it, I've probably taken it.

Not sure what you mean by '2 catalogs'. Am thinking about purchasing LR for my supplies. What is the learning curve?
Thanks

Thank you Terebene,
Was pretty sure I could not use ACDSee
Think I will wait a little before making a decision. I have a one to one at Apple next week on iPhoto and then I want to explore Lightroom as well.
Big changes for me but am super excited.
