Photoshop "Auto Select" Question 9 Years, 3 Months ago
When I used to click on an object in my PSD's, it would highlight that layer in my layer's panel so I know where it was at to make changes. For some reason it is no longer highlighting unless I click on one of the layer's in the layer's panel itself. Does anyone know how I reset that feature?

My auto select button is checked and I am using photoshop CS6. Thanks!

I'm no expert but I usually find that closing PS and reopening often solves the problem. You might try with 'auto select' on and if that does not help. Take it off reopen and reclick 'auto select'.

I just tried that and it didn't work. Thank you for the suggestion. I didn't think to even shut it down.

I found something. If you zoom I think the auto select will work. Worth a try.

This may help. You may need to Reset Photoshop CS6’s Preferences File.

I suggest you go to

tv.adobe.com/watch/the-complete-picture-...6s-preferences-file/

and see Julieanne Kost's video on how to do this.

Hope this helps.

These two things might sound super simple, but I have personally experienc d both several times recently

Do you something selected for which you have not accepted the change?

Are you clicking on a locked background layer? I'm finding that CS6 doesn't seem to let me select the background layer if it is locked.
