Elements Which One? 9 Years, 1 Month ago
Im getting a new computer tomorrow and the company is informing me that my Elements 5 will not work on my new computer. I know, I know I'm embarrassed to let you know I am that far out of date. But I love Elements 5. I also have CS4, but hardly ever use it except to use actions on my photos.

My question is should I update to 11,12 or 13. Which one do you users love? Which one is easiest to learn?

Thank you very much.

I still have 10, but I would go for the newest. The biggest learning curve was between 10 and 11, so there's probably not much of a difference between the three. Costco usually has the best price.

Enjoy your new computer.

I agree; I would go with the newest. It will have all the latest perks and should last you for a while. When Jessica launches classes she uses the more recent versions of PSE.

How fun to get a new computer!

Hi,

Totally agree, go for the latest; you will find differences, but all are great!

Thanks so much for your advice and comments. I just hope I can figure all this new stuff out. Technology scares me. Change makes me nervous. Have a great weekend and thanks again.

If you have CS4, I'd say use it for a bit. You might find that you learn to love it. The PSE user interface has changed substantially since PSE5, so you might find that CS4 is actually more familiar than the new PSE. Download a trial of PSE and see if you still prefer it over CS4.

Hi Lisa, that's exacty what I'm going to do. I got my new computer yesterday and I used CS4 all day yesterday and I know I would be more familiar with it than the higher Elements. But, can you help me out with this. I can't use my fonts that I have purchased in the new Windows 7 that my computer is without installing them. I don't want to install them because in the past, it has crashed or caused my other computer to get viruses.

Do you have any help?

I used amp font viewer on my win7 machine. It isn't super elegant, but I keep all my fonts In a scrapbookingfonts folder. I navigated to that folder in amp fv and would temporarily install them, but they were installed. I'm not sue installing them in this way is any more risk to viruses than double clicking them to open them and use. (I used to do this on my win vista pc)

The nice thing about amp is that you can have PS open when you temporarily install via amp and the font will show up in your font list without having to close and reopen PS.

(But im a Mac since November)

Oh Lisa, thank you so much for this information. I'm not too smart on computers, so I appreciate everything.
