Retiring Candice's Classes ...?!?!?!? 10 Years, 5 Months ago
Just read the email that Candice's photography classes are being retired. Will they be replaced/updated??

Can someone tell me quickly so I don't hyperventilate??? - mostly just kidding

Breathe, Roberta! It's okay; Candice just decided to make some changes.

And remember, any classes you've already taken are still available to you.

I have my classes safely in binders in my office I know that JessicaSprague.com protects them for me, too. I'm mostly worried about my friends, coming up, who will need guidance in learning digital photography in the future. So I think you are telling me that these classes just needed to be updated and will still be around but in another version ....?

Roberta, this is what Candice wrote in the Flash of Brilliance forum:

"Hi, sadly this is actually my last class for now here at Jessica Sprague. I love Jessica and I think she is a brilliant teacher so I wish her all the best. All my past class content will stay here for the students.

I do hope to teach more classes in the future and I'll let everyone know where that is when it happens!"

Wow... this is a big news... and in my own opinion not a good one

I've learned so much with Candice with the help of Kimber and Nancy! I will keep being greatfull for all of it.

I was looking forward to the next class... I guess it will not happen soon with this news.

Kimber, thanks for posting this here, I wish we will be able to attend another of Candice class in the futur.

Oh no... I never took the time to take her flash class and it is not in the retired list. Wished I had realized it was not going to be offered again the last time she held the class. Are there any other good flash classes out there?

Well, I can't make any recommendations, because I think ours is the coolest.

You all are so sweet! This isn't goodbye forever. As Candice said, "I do hope to teach more classes in the future and I'll let everyone know where that is when it happens!"

I just bought a DSLR and had planned to take Oh Shoot.

I know I still can take the class and access the videos.

How much will I be "missing out on" by not having the live chats, forum, feedback etc?

Should I just wait?

Thanks in advance!

It's great to have the support when you're starting. Really it's the best part of the classes. But they're designed in such a way that it may be worth a shot to try it for that price. Besides, there's still this forum for discussion.

Nancy and I are going with Candice on her new adventures, Rain. For now, I'm still helping Jessica and her team, but any photography work Nancy and I do will continue to be via Candice.

We miss you, too! It's been a pretty emotional ride lately.

So, if I am reading between the lines correctly...the three of you will be continuing to teach photography classes at another site? Is there a way to sign up for a newsletter or some type of email announcement so I don't lose you all?

I've been taking some photography classes over at ClickinMoms spurred on by studying up on newborns (think grandchild!), just received a Mark iii camera body 2 weeks ago from the sweet husband, and have been up to my hair follicles as usual with everything happening.
I hope the emotional ride has some light coming into the shadows!
Happiest of holidays to you and yours, Kimber...you are a bright light in my universe.
hugs,
Rain

Thank you, Rain. You are a very generous person, and it's always a pleasure to have you in class. I'm excited that you're able to spend so much time on photography lately. Congratulations on your new camera!

At this point, I can't share any more information than that which Candice has posted, but as a former student, you're already on her email list. She'll be in contact.

You can keep an eye on her blog, too:

Happy holidays to you!

I am also very anxious to hear of Candice's plans. I was hoping to take A Flash of Brillance the next time it came around as I just couldn't squeeze it in in November. Any chance that one will be part of the retirement group here at JS.com? Kimber, thanks for all the update info you've been dishing....

All of the retiring classes have been posted.

Any information I can share, I'm happy to share. I know if I were in your situation, I'd have the same questions.

Kimber, please let Candice know there were a LOT of new cameras left under Christmas trees by Santa ... I have two friends right now who are looking for a beginner dslr class and, after hearing me rave and rave about Candice's classes, think I'm "holding out" on them by not telling them how they can take her classes. I'm directing them as best I can (Clickin Moms and Photography Concentrate) but it's simply not the same. I considered having them buy the "retired" classes but did not - hopefully that wasn't a huge mistake - because I am certain that a lot of the "learning" that I did was accomplished in the forums with you and Nancy. Without the "give and take", the frustration overtakes the student (me )

Just some more pleading and groveling .....
Happy New Year!!!

Okay, I've come into a little money and I'm ready to buy my external flash and I have money to sign up for "A Flash of Brilliance". I'm wondering if that class will be offered here at JS.com or is Candice going to offer it somewhere else????? Hope it's here, I LOVE JS.com. (but I'll go wherever....)
