How do you photograph a sun dog? 10 Years, 3 Months ago
I was trying to take a picture of a beautiful sun dog and really struggled with the settings. Obviously trying to meter was difficult. I was using manual mode and this photo was taken 1/600 f 22 ISO 80 and I don't feel like it gives enough oomph to the beauty of the scene. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I wonder if I should have taken my UV protector off and probably put my polarizing filter on?

I'm not sure if you could still see the round sun flare with the polirised filter?! But usually I like having it on for landscape.

Do you use lightroom to edit your picture? if you have it, I would try to decrease de shadow and play with the highlight slide...

I never tried to capture this on picture so my ideas may not be accurate!

I did some editing but even that was hard. The photo I posted is SOOC. I hope to play around some more. It's cold here all the time so I should have more time to play.

I would definitely take off any filters. Like night photography, they cause extra flares you don't want. Other than that, I don't know.

If Jessica offers it, I've probably taken it.
