Scrolling Through Fonts in Photoshop CS5? 11 Years, 1 Month ago
|
|
I know there must be a way to do this and seem to remember Jessica demonstrating it in one of her classes, but for the life of me I can't find it! Can anyone tell me how I can type a text block, select it, and then scroll through my font list and watch the text block change/update as I scroll? Obviously, I know you can individually select and change the text with different fonts, but I would like to visibly watch the change occur so that I can see how the "look" of the font relates with other text on my page. Hope I'm describing what I want to accomplish correctly!
I'm using CS5 on a Mac, OS 10.7.5. Thanks for any tips!

One way to do it is:
Have the Type Tool be the active tool.
Have your text layer be the active layer.
Double click on the T thumbnail in the layer to select all your text. All the text will now be highlighted showing it is selected.
In the Type Option Bar, at the top in the box showing the font name, click once on the name of the font you are using.
Then use the up or down arrows to move through the different fonts. They will change in your text block as the font name changes.
The text is highlighted while you do this. HOWEVER, if you press Command - H, the highlighting will disappear and you can see the text change without the highlighting. BUT, remember to hit Command - H when you are through. Command - H turns your Extras off and on.
Hope this helps.

I am having a hard time too. When I KNOW the name of the font, I can type it in the text box, but when I just want to scoll through....it kind of goes wacky and will not allow me to do it. Sort of like it is stuttering! Any help for that?
