Need advice re: camera, lens, cruise 10 Years, 6 Months ago
Hi everyone,

I am going on a 7 day cruise the end of November; I have never been on a cruise.

Need advice on whether or not to take Nikon D300 and if so which lens..., Tamron 24-70, F/2.8---Nikor 50 mm Fixed Lens---Nikor 70-200 mm OR just take my Canon G10. It seems a shame to own this camera equipment and not take it, but actually feel more confident with the Canon G10 on quick shots.

I appreciate your input!

My two cents worth:

If you aren't really comfortable with using your Nikon D300, don't waste a lot of your cruise time by trying to figure out what to do with the camera. Just use your Canon G10 and enjoy your cruise and take your photos without worrying about setting the camera and all that. Have a wonderful cruise.

I agree with Earl. Don't miss the moment fussing about with your camera

In your situation, I would bring both... I would like to have the camera I'm most confortable with but also have the opportunity to play with the other one if I get the time during the cruise. I would for sure bring the 24-70 for inside or closer picture and the 70-200 in case you see something farther away that you want to take.

I hope you will have fun in your cruise!

I agree with Earl.

Last night (Sunday) I got back from a twelve day cruise in the Mediterranean, with extra time at the beginning in Barcelona and the end in Rome for a total of eighteen days. I only took my P&S. I'm not comfortable with my DSLR and I like to take quick shots while walking or thru the window on the tour bus or just hold it over my head to snap in a crowd. My P&S fits in my pocket and is not extra weight hanging on me. Plus I didn't have the extra stress of trying to figure out the right settings to get the perfect shot.

On the other hand, if you really want to take it, take both.

Enjoy your cruise.
