Aussie equivalent of Shutterfly 14 Years, 4 Months ago
I know there are a few Australians here in Spragueland and I have a question.

We don't have Shutterfly here but do we have the eqivalent where you can inport your digi pages without having to use one of the predesigned templates?

I know we can order from Shutterfly but is so much easier (and less expensive) to do it in Australia.

Any help would be great.

Thanks,
Mellinda

I'm interested too - does Snapfish work the same as Shutterfly? I can load my LOs to Snapfish and share them with others but I haven't looked at Shutterfly so I don't know how it works - maybe I should check it out!!

Seems to be very similar.

I made a photobook of my LOs by using the Snapfish template that was just the one photo which filled the whole page - but instead of the photo I uploaded a LO. Is this description making any sense here?

You might look at www.artscow.com

They are in Hong Kong, run massive discounts on products & often have free shipping. I have compared their products to Shutterfly, Snapfish & others and actually prefer the ArtsCow ones.

HTH!

Trish, I was wondering if you couold do it with snapfish - will have to give it a try. Did you like the finished product?

Meg, I have never heard of that one in Hong Kong - will have to have a look.

Hey Meg,
I just checked out the artscow site and it's pretty awesome. They have some really good deals that include free shipping at times, as well as a new member discout of 1200 prints free.

Thanks for letting me know about this awesome site!

You are welcome! I've used them for 2 years and have been VERY happy. Their customer service is amazing. They know that they live or die by word of mouth so if you're not 100% satisfied, they will work with you until you are. Enjoy!

Think I must go check out Artscow too.

But I have been very happy with both the service and quality of everything from Snapfish. I've done A4 photobooks, an A5 photobook of my daughters art works (and that was just fabulous), loads of photo prints, and at Christmas, we did a heap of stubby coolers for each the males in the family - when they were on sale. Which I tend to do most of the time. I load up my photobooks but only order them when they have a half price sale, which is fairly often.

Re:Aussie equivalent of Shutterfly 14 Years, 4 Months ago

Thank you so much for this info. I have been wondering about how to get by digital layout printed for a while now - I am in New Zealand and we have www.snapfish.co.nz and www.frogprints.co.nz but neither seem to print single 12x12 layouts, only photobooks.

And now I have just ordered 5 12x12 layouts from www.artscow.com (well I think I have... )

I am a little worried that I have ordered 5 copies of the same layout as it won't show me all the layouts at the checkout no matter what I do, but all five were definitely 'ticked' or "checked" as you Americans say.

I will let you know how it goes.

Thanks again

Love to know what you think of your pages when they arrive. I had a little play this afternoon and was just a little concerned that it would cut off some of my 8 x8 pages in the photobook

Like most printing companies, there is a "gutter" on each edge of each page - figure on about 1/8" (0.32 cm) being cut off on each side. This ensures that each page gets printed with NO white border. I use guides in Photoshop to make sure that none of my important elements are in these gutters. HTH!

I got my 12x12 prints from Artscow yesterday and they are great!

The colours were true, the paper is good quality, they were packaged well (rolled up in a tube) and they look awesome!

They took about a week to arrive using standard post.

I will definitely be using Artscow again.

Can I ask what the $$$ conversion rate was like (yes I am aware you are from NZ) but wondering about the cost overall, thanks for your reply in advance and wow that is super fast. and I take it that you did get 5 different prints not 5 of the same one....

Re:Aussie equivalent of Shutterfly 14 Years, 4 Months ago
Yes I got the five different prints and not five of the same one.

It cost me $NZ24.69 in total including postage from Hong Kong to NZ. So it worked out at around $NZ5 per page delivered ($NZ5 = $US3.70 and $AUD3.99 at today's exchange rate on www.xe.com). That is really cheap as far as I'm concerned as the only thing that I could get that came close in NZ was a 12x16 poster print for well over $NZ25 EACH but I am not sure how that conpares to Shutterfly in the States.

That was also after a 35% discount on the prints as that was the special that was going that day (I also received a voucher for 35% off my next purchase with the prints, and I noticed when I was on the site today that they had 50% of canvas prints so I think the specials are a VERY regular thing). Given the cost of the poster print alternative for me here in NZ, ArtsCow is still a much better option even without the discount.
